Blue Lagoon & trouble at the airport in Keflavik

Day 7
This morning (after an awful night) we were driving from Reykjavik towards Keflavik (where the airport is). Our next and last stop on this journey would be the Blue Lagoon, one of the 25 wonders of the world - they say. Actually it’s insane to pay 40 € admission charge to go bathing in a swimming pool that’s water is effluent of a power station! But we wanted to do it, cause it’s something big in Iceland. Suddenly we felt like being in a luxury hotel in the midst of all this nature!
In the water we had to laugh several times because it was too funny seeing serious looking adults swimming around with a lot of mud in their face. Later we couldn’t help but do the same J it was a lot of fun!
After we spent a few hours in the water we decided it would be enough for today and time to go. Johanna an me were taking a shower for about an hour or even longer. It was mostly because we couldn’t comb our hair anymore; it felt like goat hair or something like that (and it lasted like that for about 2 more weeks after we were back in Germany, it was horrible and hurt a lot to comb them, they just felt very dead).
We then drove directly to the ocean very close to Keflavik where we cleaned our complete car and cooked our last dinner before we had to get back to the airport. Unfortunately it began to rain, so we couldn’t enjoy the last meal outside too much, but the view was quite nice though.
Trembling we gave back our rented car - which they took without objection. We were very released after that!
We wanted to spend the night at the airport, cause our flight departed very early. Signs at the airport were saying “sleeping prohibited” and I thought that this must be a joke or that anyway nobody would check that - so a few minutes later I’ve already been asleep - just like mostly all the other people in the hall.
About 3:30 AM someone ruggedly woke me up! Two furious airport workers were shaking our camping mats threatening to throw us out of the airport if we wouldn’t immediately get up. That was very affective! The thought of being thrown out into the cold wasn’t very inviting. Good that our check-in time was 4:30 AM J
Without any delay or trouble we flew back to good old Germany, and had a warm (weather) welcome!
