Dresscode: hiking boots & backpack
We had to bring our huge backpacks to the odd size counter and when we finaly stood in the line for the security check-in our flight already was called for boarding. Waiting seemed really long and sure we all had to take off our hiking boots for an extra checkup.
We made it into the plane just in time and when we broke through the ceiling in Keflavik about six hours later (we had a not planned pretty long layover in Dusseldorf), there was nothing visible except lots of moss - another kind of desert :)
We changed a little bit of money (just in case) into Icelandic crowns and bought our first Icelandic water because we weren't sure where to find the next supermarket and we wanted to be at least a little bit prepaired..
On our way to the rented car we could already imagine what was waiting for us the coming week; it was freezing cold - in the midst of august.
Because it was already late afternoon and we all were pretty tired we decided to look for a camping ground near Reykjavik. We set up our (hopefully really airtight) tents, cooked dinner on our "Trangias" (a swedish kind of stove) and enjoyed the view over Reykjavik and the Atlantic at night.
I guess we all were exited for what would happen in the coming week + we were overwhelmed by the awesome landscape we had already seen in this short short time!
