Trip to Arnes

Day 2:
Today our first mission was to find something to eat and drink before we could really start the day. Soon we recognized that the people in Iceland have a different day center than we have in Germany.. So we found ourselves late in the morning in an empty parkinglot in front of a closed supermarket - do I have to mention, that it was freezing cold?
Finally we shopped all the groceries we would need for the next couple of days and started our trip to the Geysers in Haukadalur (the southern one).
Straight as we got out of the car we heard all the people around screaming, cause one of the Geysers (Strokkur) errupted and threw it's boiling hot water in the air. Sure that we didn't just want to see that from afar, so we went to look at it at close range. The pleasant thing about the gushing springs is that their steam is cozy warm, but it has a catch: disgusting sulfur aroma. It takes a time to get used to that tang!
After our breakfast and sightseeing we continued our trip eastwards to a cascada called "Gullfoss" which was only 6 Miles away from the gushing springs.. we found a breathtaking landscape!
Searching for a place where we could spend our night we found a small village called Arnes 31 Miles southern from the downfall. While driving through Arnes we found a small open air pool with a hot spot! Spontaneously we decided to stop. So we sarched in the depths of our backpacks for our bathing suits and jumped into the 100°F hot water.
As we took a shower later it was there again - the meanwhile so familiar sulfur aroma - and with it the fear to smell like a box of eggs :)
It was very practical that directly next to the swimming pool was a camping ground and we decided to stay there.
--> Excuse my english, it's not my native language! :)
